Your property is overpriced! Boo Hoo

I recently had a woman call and leave a message on my answering service... The message said are you crazy, have you seen the comps your property is priced too high. I called her back to see if she would like some information on the property. I asked her, have you seen the property? No, was the answer. I promptly reminded her that if a homes seems overpriced  you are always welcome to make an offer, assuming you have seen the home... remember the buyer dictates the true price, she hung up.

I know the market is tight but being rude and uneducated about home-buying is a sad epidemic.

Frank, I don't blame the general public for this attitude that seems to be permeating the housing market. I blame the media....they're the ones repeating the mantra that everything is overpriced and everyone will get a "bargain".

A home is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it.

Jim you are correct.

Konnie, I guess the call was made to insult me :)

Shaun, thats exactly what I wanted the buyer to understand.  She mentioned she was from out of town and I felt maybe she was a little out of touch with our area so I wanted to discuss the home buying process in detail before she hung up on me.

Frank, there's a good chance she's not even shopping for a home - just wanted someone to lash out at, and you were it.

Sounds like maybe she's been watching too much HGTV.  Sometimes buyers think they are informed by watching national media but fail to realize that all real estate markets are local and have their own barometers and parameters.

Everybody's an expert these days!  But I do agree that any homes on the market these days better be aggressively priced if they want to have a shot at selling.

Yes, I know what you mean. I have had the same type of conversation. I finally told the "buyer" to make an offer..after all, that's what Real Estate is all about.
